Hi, all:

Desperately need some advices, suggestions on what type of PDA to have. Palm or Pocket PC? Which one to choose? It seems that most software support Palm. If Palm would be the one, then Zire or Tungsten? Thanks mucho.

dell x50v is a safe bet. me, my girlfriend, my buddies all got them and like them.

Also depends on your budget and what you are looking for. I just picked up the Palm Tungsten E for around $150, and it has just about everything I need.

Thanks, guys. Luckily, I also found the info about the specs on medfool with the link on SDN. Thanks a lot again.

I'm considering buying one and I think I found my top choice:

Dell Axim X30 (32MB, 312MHz processor, 2 yr warranty)

I like the feedback from this website best when it comes to high-tech gadgets:

www.cnet.com

I haven't tried the dell or any other win ce based pda. But I can relate my frustrations with my palm tungsten E.

I bought it new for 160 (newegg) in August/september.
It worked great for awhile, but then about a month ago I started getting this buzzing noise when I turned it on. It doesn't affect the function but its horribly annoying.

i read up online about it and i think its a faulty transitor in the screen or something. SO emailed palm tech support about it. All they told me to do, which is what they always tell you do is do a soft reset, then a hard reset. And if that doesn't fix the issue, then return it to them to get fixed. Well, I did the resets and the buzz was still there.

So I contact them to get it fixed and they said it would cost me $120 to fix the palm b/c its out of warrenty. Palm devices now carry a 90 day warrent, mine went faulty in 180 days.

So basically, look for a win ce model if you can or a palm with a longer warrenty.

I'd prob go with the dell as well, assumign thats the one with built in wireless as well.

Get a Palm. The Skyscape programs are easier to crack and are more plentiful.

Hey eralza, where did you find the tungsten E for that price?

Ebay! 👍
It was new with a Belkin wireless keyboard. A bit risky without a warranty, but since 90 days barely qualifies as a warranty, I didn't worry too much.

No wi-fi card, meaning no internet 👎

I was considering that model until I noticed that fact. I got the X50v and love it.

You definitely want to be able to at least check your email on the run. It's one of those features that you don't think you'll need, but end up using it a lot more than you expected.
