now days i take my surgery course at collage and i need satisfactory book to study from and i got NMS book and i liked it alot , i like its way which is away from text style , and going easy like mentioning causes and how to diagnose, symptoms ,signs and treatment all in good way like 1,2,3,4
but i find NMS lack some important details like it dont show all important operations in each disease and lack some times cliincal presentation in details and so on
i want book same in its style but have more details and also easy to follow so what is better , mont reid hand book OR surgical recall ?

i want interesting book ,easy to follow and make me shine among all
and do u think surgical recall is good to be a source of study for written exams or it just good for oral and during rotation ? i mean it also go through clinical presentation and investigation and mangment by good approach, and is it interesting ?

Both the Mount Reid and Surgical Recall are classic student books and very valuable, but obviously differ in style.

Surgical Recall seems to be the favorite as it does include questions which are commonly asked in the OR, clinic, etc. As a source of studying for the shelf exam, it can be useful as long as you understand the concepts behind the questions.

Bear in mind that "important operations in disease" are not necessarily the kinds of questions you will be asked on the shelf exam. At least not complicated questions or detailed ones about the procedures themselves. Most students rely on a text as well as a handbook - Lawrence's text is a classic and easily readable during a surgical rotation for students. I would probably choose it and Mt Reid (which I still used well into my surgical residency).

thank you doctor Kimberli Cox
but can u inform me if the surgical recall as abook interest with mentioning what u need to know about clinical picture ,mangment, treatment or not as it can be good source for u to review and study from like NMS .or it is just for how to face oral Questions in your rotation?

Surgical Recall is not adequate to learn the clinical management and treatment of surgical diseases. It is a quick reference guide to read before a case, to help you with commonly asked questions. I would recommend something more in depth like Lawrence's Essentials of Surgery for studying.
