I really want to get into dental school. I started out college with a low GPA around like 2.8 but then manage to pull it up all the way through up to 3.2 now...

I took DAT first time and ended up with
BI: 19
GEN: 19
Ochem:19
pat:18
RD 16
QR:15
AA: 18
TS:19

I hate those scored on RD and QR and also English is my second english. I applied bunch of schools, but only got 2 interviews and then ended up on their waited list. I got very upset but kept going.

I retook the DAT for the second time, does not improve that much.
Bi: 19
Gen: 21
Ochem:20
Pat: 18
RD: 16
QR: 16
AA: 18 again
TS: 19
and my GPA continue to go up to 3.4 now. I applied again, and the two same schools called me for interviews again and ended up to their waited list again. This is really depressing.

I have a lot of dental experiences. I've been working and volunteering at the dental clinics, dental school, and other areas since my high school . I have no problem this section.

So my question is what should I do? Should I retake the DAT again? and i know this time...I will have to pull up a lot more especially on the Reading and Quantitative parts. I have no problem studying for science. I'm just so worry about the reading and math. Please help...help...

UOP twice told me to retake DAT, they told me they want a 21 or above on the DAT. But other schools, they just doesn't really give me any advices, beside telling me nothing went wrong with the interview and blah blah how the interviewers like me..but whatever...I still ended up on the waited list...

I don't want to give up dentistry. I've been going for it for so long...It really does take a root inside me....

IMO,your DAT is a little below average, but I think you will be ok if you work on other part of your application such as PS. good luck 👍

Thanks for your quick responses. But what is PS?

PS is your Personal Statement. It is a very important part of the application and you have complete control over it. It basically gives the admission committees a look into who you are as a person. But it seems as if your major problem is your DAT, specifically your RC and QR. QR seems to be the least important part of the DAT, but RC is definitely important. Think about the strategies you used while taking the RC portion. Did you do search and destroy, or did you write down keywords for each paragraph? Practice both methods and see which one works best for you. Topscore Pro is a good tool to use for timed RC tests. Also, try reading science magazines and articles to improve your reading skills.

Oh that personal statement...It seems i don't have a problem with that...I did use both strategies for exams...didn't work out so well. In addition, both of the time..i got FRAP questions...i hate it...I did really well on practice...I took Kaplan and also bought topscore and acethedat...did pretty well on the practice but when came the actual exams...i did bad.
