So I'm signing up for classes for Fall semester and need 2 classes as a filler.

Fall schedule so far:
-Gen chem 1+LAB
-Biology 1+lab
-Trigonometry(Don't ask why i'm taking this. Extremely weird school requirements to take calculus..)
-Something
-Something

So far I can go with
PHY 2020 Conceptual Physics
The description:
A qualitative, non-mathematical investigation of physics, emphasizing its influence on life today.
-This class seems interesting because I think it'll help me to prepare for Physics when I take it next semester :xf:

Second class:
AST 2003 -Astronomy of Solar System
Description:
Introduction to the Astronomy of the Solar System. No Physics background assumed. Topics covered include properties of light, stellar coordinates, timekeeping, eclipses, formation and dynamics of the solar system, properties of the sun and planets, space exploration of planets and the moon, life on other worlds. This course is complementary to but independent of AST 2006. Either may be taken before the other or taken by itself.
-Ok, i'm VERY interested in astronomy, but i also don't want med school to think I'm not on track to become a doctor and am just taking filler classes to boost GPA..

If you can take an intro to electricity and magnetism. The second part of physics is awful. Physiological Psychology can be squeezed in as a BCPM. Take some sort of elementary statistics. Just a few suggestions.

Don't hate on trig you will need that. Algebra, Trig and Calc are some of the most useful course I have ever taken. The physics 2020 class seems just like the intro to physics class at my school and I really wish I took that class as I make have gotten A instead of Bs in physics. Also take a stats class and that should do it for that semester.

Since when does taking a class you're very interested in mean you're going off track to becoming a doctor??

Take the one you're very interested in. Conceptual physics is probably an awesome class, but I'm bias in this regard.

Is this your first semester of college? I would advise you to not take more than 2 science classes. Ease into it. Look into other Gen-Ed requirements like foreign language, intro social science requirements (Macro/Micro/Anthro classes) or a philosophy class.

Or take whatever interests you. If astronomy is something you like, go for it.

Wouldn't hurt you to knock out an English/Literature type course now. They tend to be relatively easy, intellectually speaking, but can be rather time-intensive. Better now than when you're trying to slog through Physics and/or Orgo...

I would suggest an english or psychology class. If it comes down between the two you listed, I would choose astronomy.

Take psych, soc, or an easy science class to boost your sGPA.

Already taken Psych, Sociology, philosophy, English 1 & 2, and 2 history classes. Needless to say, i'm stating my science courses a bit late :/
And what's considered an easy science class? Besides the chemistry 1 and biology 1 i'm taking already

So far it seems that I have taken anything that doesn't require a prereq

I took a Global Environment class. Holy hells was that thing a joke-even the teacher knew it was a joke. Easiest A I've ever gotten, or expect to get. Thx GPA bump!

Boost your BCPM GPA any way you can.

it's almost always school, department, and professor dependent. ask some of the bio majors (average, not bright ones) the difficulty of some of the 200 level (sophomore or junior) electives. Ecology, Developmental bio, cell bio... It really depends on the professor that teaches the class. Ask around.
