Hi all, Friendly Neighborhood DO M4 student here finalizing my ERAS list and hoping for some suggestions of programs that are realistic for me esp. if you have/have heard good things said about them. I'm reaching out because my school's admission counselor says I should be applying to 40-50 programs and I can probably count on two hands the programs I know anything of substance about. As far as location I'd love Chicago, the west coast, NYC or Miami (but wouldn't everyone) and am open to others as long as the program is a good fit. I need some solid options to fill out my list that won't be too big of a reach. My interests are peds ID and adolescent medicine, mostly adolescent. I'll have done 3 away rotations with good marks.
My ideal spot is a full service peds hospital with all specialties but not full of fellows, though hopefully a program from which I can get a fellowship.
My stats are as follows:
From PNW, background is Fire service and clinical research
5 publications, 4 of which have me as first author.
1 award in medical school from fire district where I volunteered hundreds of hours during M1+M2
GPA 87% no failed courses
Boards: Level 1 584, Level 2 537, Step 1: 216, Step 2: 227 PE is coming in two weeks.
Mostly high pass on my rotations, some honors and a couple of passes with good comments, no fails so far *crosses fingers*
LoR's are good and include IM, FM, Psych, outpatient and inpatient peds.
