Hello,

I will be applying during this opening cycle and am currently composing my list of dental schools that I will be applying to. My DAT is below. My main priorities for a dental school is location (prefer closer to home but more than willing to look further), non-state resident cost of course, quality of training and number of clinical hours. My top routes are (from most desired) General dentistry, Perio, Ortho, the rest. My current list of schools is :
University of Michigan, UDM, *UCLA, *UNC, **Harvard, **Columbia, Case Western Reserve (Ohio), University of Pennsylvania,
*unsure about because of in-state preference
**unsure about because of cost of attendance

Any recommendations for other schools I should look at and possibly over my already made list. My goal is to apply to 6-8 schools.

Thank you in advance!

I'll post the same thing I did in another thread just today about the University of Colorado:
"I graduate from there in 2 weeks.
A few quick things about the school to give you some basics:
  • They are pretty OOS friendly (approx. 60/40) w/ pretty reasonable OOS tuition (although they don't give the option to become resident and pay in-state amounts). I, myself, am OOS.
  • Clinic starts relatively early (cleanings start fall of 2nd year w/ restorations and everything else eased in as early as spring of 2nd year).
  • About half your 4th year is spent in community health clinics across the state as a part of the ACTS program. You are able to see at least 10 if not more patients a day on these rotations (varying by location). This has been an AMAZING opportunity and I feel extremely confident and competent graduating and going straight into practice.
  • The whole climate and environment of the school is very laid back, but is still able to foster competitive students who want to specialize.
  • We have ortho, perio, a GPR, are starting an OS residency and are closely affiliated with a pediatrics program if you want extra experience in any of those fields.
  • Denver itself is a great place to live, although can be expensive.
Other than that, let me know what else you would like to know about. I'm honestly surprised not to see the University of Colorado on more people's lists. I've had a great experience here aside from a few difficulties. All schools have something like that tho."

P.S. you never listed your DAT scores

Gpa and dat needed.

I have a 23AA/24TS, as for GPA, I would rather not share that here. I am not looking for an answer to which ones I can get accepted to, but add to my list of schools someone from Michigan would look at and/or possibly apply to

As a michigan resident who will be applying next year, i want to see where this thread goes.
I think that cost wise, you should remember that a few schools allow u to change ur residency after ur first year, these schools include: ucsf, florida, buffalo, uconn, and stony brook.
In terms of out of state friendliness, Maryland(really cheap for OOS) is a great program that accepts alot of out of state, as well as baylor, loyisville, and kentucky so u should look into those.

Impossible to advise you on schools without both the GPA and DAT. Insisting on help with the list without providing all the info to help you is a waste of time
