I know that many people have listed a 30mcat as the cutoff for retake, and am wondering if my chances are simply OK, or whether I would be better served to retake. Additionally, the next/earliest test date I have is July 30, so the scores wont come out until August 30, which i feel like is too late to apply for this cycle.

Any suggestions/advice/comments?

Unless your practice scores were significantly higher, I don't think I'd retake. You have a nice score balance.

Without taking other factors into account (race, state of residency, ECs, LORs, etc.) people with your GPA and MCAT have an 85.5% chance of being accepted to an MD school based on AAMC data. Good luck!

My practice scores were averaged around 36, but due to test anxiety I feel like any improvement would only be 1 or 2 points. Is a 31 or a 32 SIGNIFICANTLY better than a 30/worth the retaking? Or is that not much of an improvement?

No, not significantly better, and not worth it - your score could go down.

a 1 or 2 point difference isnt worth the heartache.

you have a good score.

if it still bothers you, take a couple of practice tests and remind yourself of what a pain in the butt the mcat is...

i think you're better off applying with the score you've got, because by the time you get your scores it will be pretty late in the cycle. besides, a well-rounded 30 is a respectable score!
