I'm trying to figure out which Post Bacc I should attend. I have been attempting to look up statistics about each program and see which will give me a better chance of getting into medical school when I re-apply. The Department of Cell Biology, Microbiology and Molecular Biology at USF( second Bachelors/Pre-Health), Tampa or Loyola's Post Bacc or NorthWestern's Post Bacc?

1. I am in Florida, but I have family in Chicago
2. Bachelors in Business and Masters in IT

Please suggest.😎

I confess myself ignorant of all of those programs, but I will say that Florida Medicine shows a lot of love to its in-state residents. Generous admission and cheap tuition, plus it's a highly regarded medical center -- can't beat that. Point being, if you can stay in Florida, I would.

P.S. - Gainesville is an awesome town.

Since UF doesnt allow second Bachelors or a Post Bacc program, Gainesville is unfortunately not an option anymore. So either I have USF, UNF or UCF if I stay in Florida as my possible options.

Yup, gotcha -- I just meant Gainesville is an awesome town, so you should consider staying in-state so you can go to medical school there.

Parts of Tampa are great, too -- St. Pete has an amazing farmer's market. But you probably already know that.

Good luck.

I am from FL, and there are more post-bacc programs in state such as Barry University, and Nova Southeastern. Both programs are highly regarded, and I would def recommend them both.

Thanks for responding 🙂 I am trying to decide between Tampa and Chicago. I don't want to move to Miami or Ft Lauderdale, plus since there are private universities, they will probably be more expensive than USF.

Northwestern (between USF/Loyola/NW).

Generally, both USF and Loyola sort of cater to their own medical schools. The NW program better prepares candidates for schools across the country.

Just a thought.

Does anyone know how long it typically takes to hear back from Loyola or Northwestern's Post Bac programs? DO they both offer classes at night?
And does one or the other have a better acceptance rate to Med School?😱

I would imagine there are night classes available for both. From what I have heard, most schools turn around SMP decisions in like 3 weeks. This late in the cycle, mid July, I'd imagine it may be closer to 2 weeks.

I'm unsure which has the better rate, so I won't guess. Both programs have a thread here on SDN. I'd post there and see what they say.
