Hello,
I have been reading this forum for quite a while now and for some reason this topic just popped in my head. Let me give you some background info on my situation. After high school I had briefly attended community college but dropped out without withdrawing (at the time it didn't seem important and I truly didn't understand the concept) needless to say I have a transcript with all F's. Right after this I enlisted in the Army have since matured a lot and now honorably discharged, I have been going to school I am getting ready to transfer to finish my degree. I don't know what to do about this transcript hanging over my head I currently have a 3.87 gpa, I am a smart guy I just made a very stupid mistake. I understand the ethical dilemma of not telling the school but if I do tell I will never have the opportunity to be a physician. Any opinions or suggestions will be appreciated.
Thank You

You have to report it. Just apply to an osteopathic school (they graduate with a DO and not an MD). They allow for grade replacement and the avg accepted gpa is lower.

This is not the end of you.

You can pm me if you need some more talking through this, but under no circumstances should ever consider not submitting all your transcripts, you can be ejected from school if you get caught

First off, many thanks for your service to your country.

There are two ways to fix this. There are some MD schools that reward reinvention. Tulane, Albany, Drexel, Tufts, NYMC, BU and SUNY Upstate (I base this upon stories posted here). Best bet will be to contact Admissions deans to find out if you're competetive now.

With DO programs, any-retakes of F/D/C classes will be treated only as for the higher grades. This does wonders for your GPA.

People love a comeback story. Med school admissions officers are people. Milk your comeback story for all it's worth. CONTROL YOUR NARRATIVE by making it the easiest thing in the world for admissions to understand your story and cheer you on.

And do math. Actual math with actual numbers. Your combined transcripts result in a combined (cumulative) GPA. If you just did a semester or two in community college, your cumulative GPA falls, yes, but it doesn't fall to nothing. Because math.

Use your MCAT score to max out your chances. Control what you can control. That community college transcript is out of your control.

A 3.87 in your university career says to me that MD is a reasonable aspiration here.

Best of luck to you.

Thank you for all of the feedback it definitely helps to hear some positive responses. Also thank you for the schools list and the D.O. suggestion (I haven't considered this but maybe I should start). I do have two years left before I finish my degree so hopefully my gpa will come up a substantial amount. I am just glad that my school had a pathway agreement with my cc and that there still sounds like some options out there for me.
