Hi;

I'm student of Ankara University Veterinary Faculty (TURKEY), I'll graduate at July 2007, I want to enroll Guelph, UPIE or Western DVM or MSc programs. I'm interested in small animal surgery...

Guelph is the best one but they accept only 5 international student for DVM per year and I have limited information about Western and UPEI, could you please give me information and advise about these universities I'll be glad.

I'm not sure why you've picked these particular univerisities, but I'd try to stay a little more open to other schools.

If you do some searches you should be able to find a decent amount of info on the various schools. I would also simply go to all the schools' websites and read what they're about.

Are you looking to specialize in surgery? Where you go to do an internship/residency is probably more important than where you do your DVM. However, I would make sure that where ever you go that they actually do more hands on dissection and surgery.

Since you mentioned a MS, are you still trying to decide betwen a MS or a DVM or are you looking for a place where you could do both? If you haven't decided then there are a lot of things to think about. If you want to do both their are DVM programs that have established combined MS or PhD programs available, but they typically take longer than the 4 years for the DVM, although some people do get the MS done within the 4 years. I'd look for those programs as you navigate the websites.

I've searched too many universities, colleges but decided to enroll Canadian universities because another countries are too expensive for me and all international students for example USA ( Colorado, Cornell etc ) is 25000 - 35000 $ ( DVM per year ) only tuition, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand they are too expensive for me...

But Canadian universities DVM tuition fee is 10000 cad, and high level education and teaching although Canada nice country for living. There are 3 Englisn based universities; Guelph, Western and UPEI if they accept me I'll enroll one of them at this point what is your advise?

Here in Turkey MS is 2 years ( without thesis ) and DVM is 4 years. You can directly start DVM I mean you don't have to make MS for enroll DVM, in my university MS students can't do any surgical operation if you are lucky and at DVM program you can do last 2 years so I must leave from here. İn Canada and other countries may be different between with my country

I'm interested in small animal surgery and want to be a great surgeon of my country and I must say that title is not important for me I mean I don't care of it, traning and learning surgery and making 10 times 100 times etc. Do you know anywhere I can do this? Which way I must follow?

come on everybody I must maka a decision do you help me🙄

Have you considered the university of Pretoria in South Africa as well? I know going there qualifies you to work in Commonwealth countries. I did a tour of their vet school and it is amaaaaaaazing.

I've searched and did not like it😳 😳

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command😀 😀

WCVM (Western as you call it) only accepts Canadian residents from the provinces of BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba - as each provincial government funds seats for its provinces residences. As such, they do not accept international candidates, nor Canadians from any other provinces.

You're looking at applying to either Guelph or PEI, and I would caution you that out of province/country tuition for foreigners is considerably higher than if you were a Canadian from Ontario or Atlantic Canada.

Hi;

I've started to belive that if I enroll DVM program it will be time wasting. I can not improve my surgery skill because of meaningless lessons and too much rotation. Is there any way to upgrade my fundamental and surigical talent??
