I'm missing Statistics, Genetics and Animal Nutrition. I work full time so I would love to take all three online, at the same college if possible. Anybody have any info? Most places offer one or the other but not all three. Is it bad if I take them from three different places?

You may want to try UC Berkeley online for the statistics. They may have genetics I'm not sure.

I am taking animal nutrition online thru Purdue. It is a self-paced course and conducted mostly through webCT.

I also did Animal Nutrition through Purdue. It actually was a pretty easy/enjoyable class...not much work for it

I'm finishing animal nutrition right now with OK state. It's independent study. I like the way its set up. The assignments are very fair, and the prof. has always returned my assignments by email in less that 2 days.

UF also requires a basic animla ascience course, which I'll also do with them.

Thanks for the info on K-State; they have the genetics and animal nutrition, but wow it's expensive! UFL has statistics, but not the other two online. Ugh, this is getting difficult.

Yeah, its not cheap. The nutrition course at Purdue was $825. 🙁

UC Berkeley extension also has genetics. It's pricey, though.

NCSU has nutrition and stats online, don't know about genetics.

OK state offers a nutrition class online. A friend of mine took it last year. It is cheaper than other schools ($327)...

Was interested in the nutrition for OK state, how do the exams work? I am in PA, so I guess I can take it online right?

I'm almost done with the one from OK state.

There are 13 writing assignments and 5 exams. Assignments are emailed to the professor. When you get close to the point where you want to take the exam, you fill out a request sheet and mail it to them. they then mail your exam to an approved location- testing center, etc.

I reccommend it highly. You can do it completely at your pace, it's not too pricey, and you have 1 full year to complete it.

Can someone tell me how to sign up for the course at OK State? I am having trouble navigating their website ... thanks!

are online courses accepted by all schools as prereqs?

No. You should call the schools you are applying to and see if they work before signing up for the class. When I finished undergrad, I needed to take 2 courses to satisfy the pre-reqs, and it took more than a month to find an appropriate online course that Tennessee would accept. They need to know that the online courses meet their requirements for what that course should teach you.

I'm going to second this one. I haven't taken a physiology course that meets the UC Davis requirement (I have an anatomy/physiology one, but it's not close enough). I spent weeks trying to find one that would meet their requirements, but it had to be an upper division course at a four year college and they had to be satisfied that it sufficiently emphasized physiology. All of that plus the fact that I wanted an online course that I could begin at any time (not necessarily aligned with a normal semester) made it much much harder. Finally, after having suggested course after course and being told they didn't match the requirements, I was at my wits end and asked them to suggest a course. They pointed me to a class at Breyer State University that is a perfect match. And of course, I was left kicking myself for letting it take me so long to ask them for a suggestion.

Just my little story on why it's good to consult the schools for help!😀

Just a tip for anyone else looking into these classes, I took animal nutrition through western iowa tech community college as an online course. Definitely cheaper than the universities and it satisfied most of the colleges I applied to. I'm sure there are other community colleges offering these classes online as well.

Just check with the school to be sure that course doesn't need to be an upper level class or at a four year college first!

Yikes~ after using the calculator, my total came out to $647. How did you get it so cheap? Or were you just referring to the tuition (not fees)?

Anyway, can someone tell me if I should get the optional supplemental text (costs another $50+ plus shipping). I'm not trying to be cheap but I'm on a strict budget.

OR - does anyone know of an online nutrition cheaper than $647? Thanks for the help.

Meadow- I'll sell you my books for the OK State ANSI 3543 course. I just got done with it. you ABSOLUTELY NEED the supplemental- it has your assignments in it. PM me if you're interested. The $347 I think is just for the course ~ $600 sounds right for everything.
