Have you tried just reading the passage first rather than S&D? Different things work for different people, you should try a lot of methods and see which one you're most comfortable with.

For me, reading the passage first in detail is the best way to go.

I have the same problem as you since English is my third language. However, after taking 5 practice tests consistently making 15 from Crack DAT. I notice something. Previously, I read the whole passage to know where things are located and go back and answer the questions. However, I end up forgetting the passage and everything tumbles. Ok, here is my strategy, which has been posted many times on here. DO NOT READ the passage first. Normally, the first two questions ask you about thesis statements and where the passage can be found in, such as dental journal. Read the open paragraph and the conclusion to get the sense of the passage. Skip questions relating to thesis and where the passage can be found. Answer any other questions by going one by one. Questions are laid out in order, from paragraph to paragraph majority of the time. If you answer question 3 on paragraph 2, then normally question 4 will be on paragraph 3 or paragraph 4. After finishing all questions on that passage, go back to the thesis and where the passage can be found and answer them.
I test this out last week on my old tests, which I did a month ago (dont remember much).
Test 1: 18 (3 points boost)
Test 2: 20
Test 3: 18
Test 6: 17 (new test, but believe I can improve to 20)
Hope this make sense and help you. Good luck!
