Hi Friends

Unlike many of you , am still in the 1st stage of application , which for me means university search according to GPA and other factors .It is surely much more difficult as it looks like .World wide web surely answers many questions ..but not all . So here am withe some of my questions , your replies would appreciated 😳

  • How to see the graduate programs in Counseling at masters and Phd level( am not aiming clinical , coz of lower grades and no bent for the field ), which are not APA accredited but may be by MPAC or CACREP( this i know is more bent in education).
  • How to see the graduate programs , which doesn't ask for GRE , like University of San Dieago i read doesnt need GRE .
  • MFT & LPC - i don't know how it works in USA , but in my country their is hardly any demarcation in the nature of responsibility / work etc between the counselor and psychotherapist or psychologists . If i assume by name and the different exams required for getting licensed than i assume that yes , they celebrate their differences and use them to make money as per the issues of the clients required . I mean a marital issue will be seen by MFT only !
  • Chances of getting paid internship , while still in the graduation course .
Success rate for the licensure exam in LPC & MFT .

Extra information is always a help .
🙂

Most all graduate programs in the US will require that you take the GRE. Its just part of the game. Moreover, since you appear to be a foreign student with limited english abilities, you will need to take and obtain and acceptable score of the TOEFL.

In the US, although both can do psychotherpay, LPCs and MFTs are NOT on the same level as psychologists. The doctoral degree in psychology is much more extensive clinically, and provides substantial training in statistics and research methodology/design.
