Hey guys.

I just wanted know two things before I start study for DAT Bio section.

1. Do I need to take college Bio courses to do well in BIO(If I do, what kind of bio class

would help a lot?) or should I take Anatomy?

2. Can I study just on my own for the bio section?

I didn't take bio class even when I was in highschool, and I have not taken in college yet

either.

People say that Bio has a lot of materials, and I just wanted know how I am going to study

for it.

Thanks for your time anwsering my questions guys.

It is not impossible to study the biology section yourself and get a grasp of it, but it helps IMMENSELY if you have a history of biology classes and/or experience. The bio section is a massive monster of information, so be ready to fry some brain cells trying to understand/memorize it all. I would highly suggest you take biology courses before you prepare for the DAT.

There are certain Bio classes required to apply to dental school, so you might as well take them before you take the DAT. You can definitely get by without a Bio course and studying on your own, but the stronger your foundation the easier it will be. The Bio section isn't all memorization, you have to apply knowledge and make connections to get high 20s.

ADA has a list of all the topics covered by the DAT bio section. Any classes and books that cover that material will help. You will need to take general biology courses before you can take any upper level, but that is the best place to start nonetheless.

If you have been doing decent in all your biology courses, then expect a decent score. With practice that is!
