Hey guys! I'm trying to keep my list under 40 and I am having trouble narrowing down the final schools. If anybody has any insights on the schools below, I'd really appreciate the input. I'm trying to narrow the list down to 3-4 more schools because I already have 36 schools on my list.

Stats: 3.37 sGPA / 3.56 overall GPA / 512 MCAT
CA resident
Excellent clinical + research

SCHOOL LIST:
- Miami: 3.6 sGPA/3.7 overall GPA/30 MCAT - 49.7% OOS (26 OOS students matriculants total)
- Toledo: 3.6/3.7/31 - 25.4% OOS (44 OOS matriculants)
- Western Michigan: 3.5/3.6/32 - 61.7% (37)
- Wright State: 3.6/3.7/29 - 28.8% OOS (32)
- Arizona, Tucson: 3.6/3.7/29 - 26.5% OOS (31)
- Illinois: 3.6/3.7/32 - 21.9% OOS (69)
- Louisville: 3.6/3.7/29 - 25.3% (39)
- Utah: 3.6/3.7/30 - 25.4% OOS (30)

Thank you!!

With that sGPA, delete all of them.

Even with higher stats, I'd rule out the below.

- Toledo: 3.6/3.7/31 - 25.4% OOS (44 OOS matriculants)
- Western Michigan: 3.5/3.6/32 - 61.7% (37)
- Wright State: 3.6/3.7/29 - 28.8% OOS (32)
- Illinois: 3.6/3.7/32 - 21.9% OOS (69)
- Louisville: 3.6/3.7/29 - 25.3% (39)
- Utah: 3.6/3.7/30 - 25.4% OOS (30)

So Arizona & Miami? Any particular reason besides stats? Why Arizona over Western Michigan?

I thought 30-40 was pretty average?

Maybe to SDN. 10-15 is the actual average. You have a slightly below average GPA and above average/87th percentile MCAT and good ECs. You do not need to apply to 40 schools.

The degree to which they prefer IS vs OOS.

State schools favor the home team.
I see. But Western Michigan had 37 OOS matriculants out of a total of 60 matriculants and is a private institution. Should I go for Miami (because it is private and takes 50% OOS) and Western Michigan? Why Arizona over Western Michigan or e.g. Louisville?

One has to be above average if you're from OOS. Hence, you will do better with private schools.
