Ok so here is my dilemma: I want to apply as early as possible (ie June 2nd) since I have all my transcripts ready, information & personal statement typed up. I am not taking my DAT until the very end of June, however.

My GPA is 3.8 at the University of Michigan (Mich resident) with ~3.6 sci GPA and U of M is my top choice school. I am having my DAT scores sent to Marquette University, Temple University, Tufts University, University of Detroit Mercy, and University of Michigan.

The problem is that I don't know where else I should apply until I actually take the exam & see my scores. Can you add more schools after you already sent out your application to other schools? And also does anyone have any advice on where else to apply assuming I do at least average on the DAT (19/20)?

You can check out predents.com. They have a list of the dental schools in the US and it lists requirements and such. I know you can add more schools before but I'm not sure if you can after you send out your app.

Your school choices are good so far:
- Marquette University
- Temple University
- Tufts University
- University of Detroit Mercy
- University of Michigan

You can add:
- Buffalo
- Case Western
- Maryland
- Pittsburgh
- Indiana

That's assuming a 19-20 DAT. If you get a 21, doors will open to apply to more competitive schools. Apply to around 10 schools and you'll be fine. Good luck.

19/20 is NOT average. This is easier said than done.

so does anyone know for sure about adding schools after your app was sent i in?

You can add school after you submit AADSAS and take the DAT. They are more than glad to take your cash.

That's kind of true, though 19 is the average for a Matriculant. 17 is the average for an Applicant. Perhaps OP considers themselves an average Matriculant 😉

Yes, you can add more schools through ada.org. Best of luck!

thanks for the help all!
--also I understand 19/20 is "easier said than done," I just completed the Kaplan course and had section scores ranging from 17-23 on the final so I understand the difficulty....but again I assume after another month of studying I'll be able to secure 19/20 or hopefully higher!
