So right now Im trying to figure out what to do next summer.
Im currently a freshman at a top 10 Uni and Im thinking of doing more research next summer.
Ive worked with two PIs during high school through internship prgms: one at UCSF working on stem cell work and another at Stanford working on Cancer bio.
I was also thinking about applying to a couple of research internship programs. There are few available out there and arent as prestigious as amgen. But, they do pay 3k-4K, while i'm not probably not gonna get anything in my old labs.
In the lab at UCSF, I worked directly with the PI and he really liked my work. Together, we designed a project that I later partially carried out on my own. He was a surgery prof in the SOM and let me shadow frequently in the OR and clinic.
Would it be better if I worked in a lab through one of these programs or with one of my old PIs?
