Thank you Goro! I am African.
I saved all of my money for this application season, do you think it would be too extreme to apply to every DO?

Not for URMsdo you think its too late in the MD cycle?
Thank you for all of your help btw!
Add UCR they are not stat focused and a large part of their missions seems to be serving the underserved/training urm physicians. I would throw in some low tier MD you never know
Not for URMs

You need to apply MD like today.

I am today. I have a DO letter but no MD but I have 500 hours of MD shadowing. I didn’t ask my MD for a letter because I didn’t plan on submitting an MD app. Will a DO letter suffice?

Yes, but for the record MD schools don't really care about physician letters

Good to hear. Thank you for the help!
I totally get what you're saying about the importance of letters., However, I read every LOR, from physician, professor, committee, etc. I have uncovered several Assassin bullets buried in the middle of page 2 of the letter, warning about behavioral issues, problems interacting with staff or patients. Our disciplinary committee doesn't need any new faces brought before it.Yes, but for the record MD schools don't really care about physician letters

Well yeah, but that wasn't the point. GynGyn and LizzyM have always maintained that physician letters mean nothing to them, meaning they don't help an application and aren't given any weight. Obviously if that letter is poor then it's going to hurt.
Well, yeah, that kinda was my point. If the letter is poor, it's going to hurt. That's why you read them .Of course the vast majority will be positive letters. But not all. I greatly appreciated the researched and logical posts of Gyngyn and LizzyM, but disagree with their point about the importance of LORs.Well yeah, but that wasn't the point. Nobody is discussing the merits of LORs.... we are talking about physician letters specifically, which are completely insignificant to an MD school app.
Could a great letter that mentions your experiences lead credence to your personal statement or extra curricular activities?
It seems odd that letters mean SO much for residents and so little for applicants.

MD/DO LOR or not, bad ones are very rare.I totally get what you're saying about the importance of letters., However, I read every LOR, from physician, professor, committee, etc. I have uncovered several Assassin bullets buried in the middle of page 2 of the letter, warning about behavioral issues, problems interacting with staff or patients. Hey Goro I apologize for being a neurotic pre med but I submitted my primary AACOMAS and I was under the impression that we should include the total number of hours that we expect to complete until potential matriculation? Is this the right thing to do? And if not should I bring this up in my secondaries or interview?
I apologize if this was asked before.

I would say that you should include what you have done. I know I wish I could go back. Some forums said it was ok to do but I shoudve confirmed. You think there’s anything I can do now?
