I'm currently a freshman going into the 2nd semester. I'm a little behind I believe (or not? IDK) because I didn't take Gen Chem 1 in the fall as a freshman and they do not offer gen chem 1 in the spring, only Orgo 1.

That said, I've taken Bio 1 in the fall, and am taking Bio 2 this spring semester.

Am I forced to take gen chem 1 and orgo 1 (with labs) during the summer? Or are there other classes that I should take instead during that time, and just do gen chem 1 and orgo 1 sophmore year, gen chem 2 and orgo 2 junior year?

Appreciate the feedback.

Also to help with responses I've listed what my school offers and when

Summer: Gen chem 1 (1st session), Physics 1 (1st session), Gen chem 2 (2nd session), and Orgo 1 (2nd session)
Fall: Gen chem 1, Orgo 2, Physics 1
Spring: Gen chem 2, Orgo 1, Physics 2

I could also do gen chem 1 + 2 summer, then orgo 1 spring sem of sophmore year, orgo 2 fall sem of junior year.

I'm also in the same situation as you. I am starting my second semester this spring and still have not taken general chem 1 or 2. For some reason my adviser recommended that I take human anatomy and physiology 1 and 2 my freshman year. Pairing that with bio 1 and 2 I just did not have time for chem.

I may be mistaken but don't you only need to take 4 semesters worth of chemistry? Gen Chem 1&2, and then Organic Chem 1&2? So could you simply take general chem your sophomore and than organic chem your junior year?

I've pondered the same thing, but then, when would you study/take the MCAT and apply to med schools?

dont take o-chem and chem together..
take chem during the summer
and o-chem next year.
