Okay I have a 2.77 now and depending on how I finished this fall semester I will end up with say 2.90-3.00. Now the question is what do you guys think I need on the DAT to be consider for Dental school? I do have a Dental hygiene A.S. degree, and have 25 hrs of shadowing, 60 hrs of volunteer works. 😱

So can I get your input please....... 😡

I'd say you need 20+ in every section for a good chance. Is 2.77 your sci gpa or your cumulative?

its my cumulative GPA in my BS degree, this is not counting my other college transfer grades.
How much influence does a science GPA play?
I would have to calculate that GPA...:scared:

Science GPA plays a very important role. I'd say you need at least a 22+ DAT with some nasty scores in some sections.

I had a 2.8 in undergrad and I currently have a 3.84 in grad

I scored a 25 on the DAT lowest section was a 17 in QR....

when/if I get interviews I'll be sure to let you know what the admissions seeks in terms of scores....

I'd be shooting for the stars if I were you man, if you can ace your last year at least you have more fuel to work with and aim for a 22+ on the DAT with no weak areas......

I'll let you know what the deal is when I find out more information tho, study hard this year for the time being.

Def knock out some killer scores on the DAT 22+...
Do your masters in public health, biomedical sciences....increase you gpa basically.
Alot of hard work but if you really want it, im sure you can do it.

I think those are your best options.

what about getting a MS, how does it increase your chance over candidate with high GPA in undergraduate? 😎

Another question is with a low GPA and say average DAT score should you try to apply for Dental school or go straight to graduate school?, then after that apply?🙁

My GPA is still whack but I showed a strong upward trend. I couldn't even get into a masters program at the time because no one would take me. I just kept taking undergraduate courses. My first major wasn't Bio related so I just kept on taking Bio/Chem and related courses. My DAT scores were good but not great. I'm actually getting interviews now, so just keep at it somethings bound to happen. Might just take a little bit longer.
