hello to all. I am new to this forum. I am a psychiatry trainee from UK . I would like to come and work in USA but need guidance.
I would like to know if any of the members can direst me to websites , forums or discussion boards which have practising psychiatrist as their members.
I would like to know working hours, annual income , work environment etc for a psychiatrist in USA. I know it varies widely but a general impression will help me with the decision.

Seriously, it looks like you really need a lot of basic info (as a friend of mine and myself did a few months back). All the information that you are after is available on this forum. All the topics that you are interested in have been discussed - at least once, and frequently several times. You just need to do a basic search, and there it is...at your fingertips.

And, yes, this forum is used by the US practising psychiatrists, residents, medical students...and the odd FMGs like you and me.

working hours, annual income , work environment etc for a psychiatrist in USA

1-working hours are completely up to you. There is in general a shortage of psychiatrists in the US, so you will have choices--full time, part time, & possibilities to do extra work in various methods...locum, part time, outpatient, inpatient etc.

2-work environment-hard to answer because there's so many different ways to practice-outpatient, inpatient etc

3-annual income

the above is the lowest, middle is average & end is highest.

I'd say this is about accurate though I've seen several salaries lower & even higher.
