I just took the dat on june 2nd and didn't do as well as i thought I could. I did get fraped and it killed my score. I was scoring in the 24 range in RC on my practice tests and ended up with a 18 on the test. My scores were:

PA 20
RC 18
BIO 20
GC 17 much lower than expected
OC 20
QR 17
TS 19
AA 18

I played sports in undergrad and ended up with a 3.08 gpa, but completed my masters with a 4.0. My father is a dentist and I have very strong LOR, shadow and extracurricular. My plan is to take the test again on Sept. 2 and only submit it to the 5 schools they let me and see how I do. If I do much better I'll just have it sent out to the other 12 schools i applied to and if not I just won't send it out. Do you think this is a good idea, or am I wasting my time. I'm just worried that the DAT scores I have now will be the only thing holding me back from getting in somewhere. I applied in 2006 as well out of undergrad with an even lower score, but I know I can do better than my current score. Do you think i should just stick with what I have or give it one more chance. Also, do you think schools will look down on the fact i've taken it 3 times in 3 years even though I've done better each time. Sorry for the long post and I look forward to hearing what you guys think. thanks!!

I don't think u need to retake again, your scores are above ave, the gpa is low, but u have a maters 4.0 so that boosts your gpa, plus your father is a dentist. You'll have a shot somewhere, maybe not havard or like the top end, but you'll get some interviews!

bump 👍. First off, sorry you got frapped but good job overall. Your scores are above average and with the 4.0 in the masters program and the fact you've improved every time you've taken it shows determination, so I think you've got a decent shot. Do you have any school in particular you want to go? If so, like many other ppl on this forum have been saying, give the admissions offices a call and see what they have to say. Good luck!

My top three schools are Pitt (hometown), Maryland, and ASDOH, but honestly I would go anywhere that would take me. I just want to get in. Is there anyway taking it again would actually hurt me, b/c if you guys just think its a wast of my personal time I feel like its worth it if I can improve.

Well if u retake your gonna be late in the cycle, but thats up to u, I'd personally not retake, but if u really want to you could. I'd just add a few more schools to make sure u get in somewhere.
