calcuate the heat of combustion of C2H4 given the following data at 1 atm and 25 C

compound delta Hf (KJ/mol)
H2O (l) -286
H20 (g) -242
CO2 (g) -394
C2H4 (g) +52

add molecular oxgyen to ethane molcule to generate carbon dioxide and water. balance that equation. that's a combustion reaction. then subract the sum of the delta H's of the reactants FROM sum of the delta H's of the products. not the the other way around. remember molecular oxygen doesnt have a delta H because its in its natural state.
