hello, I'm a sophomore at alice lloyd college and am planning on going on to pharmacy school after my junior year. i still have a few required classes left to take for my pre-reqs for pharm school, especially the organic chems and a few more. i was wondering if anyone knew which of these classes would be most helpful in pharm school- genetics, biochemistry, and botany? i know that genetics and botany are not pre-reqs but they could possibly help. also i know biochemistry is a suggested elective for many pharmacy schools. if anyone could possibly help me i would appreciate it greatly.

Your best bet is to try to narrow down your list of potential pharm schools, probably to about 5-10. Check on their websites to see what their pre-reqs are: some schools require biochemistry, immunology, or other unusual courses.

When you've got your list narrowed down, make sure what you're taking will cover their pre-reqs (or use that criteria to narrow down your list). Personally, I think biochem would be more helpful than wither of the other courses, but you reallyshould check with your preferred school(s).

You can get information on the individual schools' websites, or you can get a ton of good stuff on the AACP website.

biochem, pathophys, immuno.

I want to take drug chemistry, pharmacology or immunology.

The school I want to apply to requires biochemistry and I am a biochemistry major, so I am already going to take biochemistry. Biochemistry is probably a good bet.

From your list Biochemistry will prove to be the most helpful in pharmacy school if you take it before hand as many schools have you take it in pharm school. Taking it now will make it easier for you when you have to take it later down the road.
