Thank you in advance for any input!
I am 26, graduated in 2002 with great grades and test scores and was admitted into top universities but made the biggest mistake of my life and instead of pursing my dream to become a doctor I went to an acting training in London, and had a have had a career as an actor but now I am back in the US, realize that I really want to be a doctor, and want to pursue my undergaduate pre med and am lost were to start.
I need to retake my SAT to be admitted to a 4 year university and would not be able to start until 2012. I could start at a community college and transfer to a 4year university to take my pre-med requirements but have heard that this is frowned upon by Med school. Is this true? I would love to start as soon as possible and could do so at community college but don't want to permanently ruin my chances of being accepted into med school. Would it be advisable that I wait and apply to a 4year school?

You graduated from what in 2002? High school?

If so, this forum isn't appropriate for you. "Postbac" means coursework done after completion of a bachelors degree. Try the high school forum and the nontraditional forum.

And yes, it's true that community college coursework is frowned upon. There are med schools that won't accept it. From this vantage point in your academic career you can't gauge whether a particular CC is sufficiently rigorous to prepare you for med school. On the path to med school, doing CC work is a gamble.

Lastly, you'll want to get yourself exposed to clinical medicine right away. I recommend starting a volunteer job (say 4 hrs/wk) at a hospital or clinic now, and keep doing it until med school.

Best of luck to you.

Thank you for response, I now realize this is not the appropriate forum.
i wasn't clear, yes I graduated from highschool in 2002.

I received a British BA degree in acting but from I was told, by several postbacc programs, that it doesn't not qualify me for the program because I don't have any GED and it was so performance based. I was advised to get an American bachelors degree if my future goals where to attend med school.

I wanted to start this right away and the fasted route would be to get my GED done at a community college and transfer to a 4 year school but do not want to take that route if it will jeopardize my future success. So wanted advise if I should delay and apply for a 4 year university next year? or if I can with such a long gap between highschool?

I am currently volunteering and flailing trying to figure out how I go about to get my undergraduate degree!

Thanks!
