Hi Everyone! I just submitted my application, and I’m nervous. I have already applied to some DO schools but would like to add more. Since my MCAT is low, I want to apply broadly to DO, but am concerned about schools with high in-state bias and for-profit (no federal loans). Any suggestions would be appreciated!
CA resident from North Cal/ Bay Area
Asian, Female, graduated in 2021 with three gap years
Immigrant, First-Generation Student
Stats: MCAT 490 to a 501 retake (125/121/128/127): English is not my first language, so I really struggled with CARS.
GPA overall: 3.7, science GPA: 3.5
Clinical Experiences: medical assistant for a family medicine doctor (DO): 1400 hours. Support staff for COVID-19 Mobile Vaccination and Testing Program: 2600 hours, Hospital Volunteer ~100 hours
Research: 600 hours (2 labs, no publication)
Shadowing: 1 DO, 3 MD: 95 hours.
Other experiences ~500 hours: worked as a peer educator for first-generation students, election aide, and customer service for the school dining hall
Other volunteer: patient outreach to teach kids about nutrition and exercise (270 hours), virtual math tutoring (60 hours)
