hey i just found out that i got accepted into pco and ico and i really love both schools so i'm at a stand still!! i need help on my decision...i want a school that will prepare me for boards, very clinical based, and a place where i can adapt to quickly ( i am from arkansas!)

if u want clinical...i would go with PCO....but ICO is not too far off and plus ICO is attached to its clinic so it's more convenient. I think both schools will adequately provide you with the education you need to do well on the boards. Im not exactly sure on the passing rates on the boards for eithers schools, but it is relative to each person moreso than schools. I had the option of choosing either as well, and I was very close to choosing ICO, but ended up in Boston. So my choice would be ICO over PCO.

*This is only my opinion. Do not base your decision solely on this comment 🙂 *

well just hearing some advise from someone makes me feel a whole lot better. it seems that everyone i talk to do not offer much info. I am on the alt list at SCO and i hear from NOVA next week. I enjoyed my visit at PCO and you are right, the only upset i had with that school was the drive to the eye institute. This will be my first time away from home so this decision will be the toughest by far!!!

Go to ICO 100%. Theres no point of buying a vehicle and traveling to a clinic when you can walk to school/clinic.

I had the same problem and ended up choosing ICO over PCO. But that was because personally, I liked ICO better. I like the idea of having an option of living in a dorm the first year so that I don't have to worry about finding a roommate in a new city my first year there and so I can adjust to school without worrying about living arrangements. In addition, I felt that by having many of your classmates live in the RC there may be a closer community among the class since everyone is in one place. Although, I felt as if the students at PCO had a nice community too just because everyone is going through the same classes and labs and live relatively close to each other. It is definitely a more personal decision and I would just recommend this: when you think about Optometry or going to school next year, where do you see yourself? I had a really tough time deciding but it was so strange because everytime I thought about classes or Optometry my mind would wander to ICO's lecture room or building and that was when I knew that deep down somewhere I wanted to go to ICO more than PCO. If it really and truly is split between the two then go to the school that cost less...

for me the dorms do not apply, they do not allow pets and i have a cat and a dog! i really appreciate your input and with everyones info, i think i am leaning towards chicago. really, i could picture myself in chicago b/c i love the going out atmosphere and all the little shops and boutiques. I did not get the chance to explore philadelphia but from my impression it is more historical and for the outdoor-like people. I am still waiting for memphis and that is where my heart is set.. it is home for me. memphis is only 3 hours away!!

if you are wondering about the scenery or life at the colleges, I would tell you from experience that PCO is not the most liveliest place around. I wouldn't consider either places to be the safest of all the schools, but I would rather live in Chicago than Philly. Besides the dorms across from the school, there are many little houses/townhouses u can rent. They are pretty close and id say about half of them have been torn down and rebuilt recently.

Definitly Chicago has better shopping than Philadelphia if you are a shopper.

As for Memphis, I cannot say anything about it because I know nothing about that city except for the Grizzlies.

Hope all this helps 🙂

you are a life saver adubs!!! during my interview, chicago had their blizzard so i was not able to drive around the area b/c the road conditions were so crazy and visibility was like 15%!! Im glad you told me there are little houses around b/c i have a dog that goes outside to do his thing so i needed a house rather than an apt. Also, yea i got the feeling that philly was too historical compared to chicago. Memphis you can say can be compared to new orleans. The campus is located right in the downtown area which is in close proximity to beale street, crowded with bars after bars and restaurants after restaurants. The safety there is great b/c the parking lot, gated with a security guard at the front entrance, is located right across the street. I am hoping to hear from NOVA tomorrow!!

hey everyone, i just found out that i did get into NOVA so i will be declining my offer to PCO, so another free seat to those who are worried!!

congrats kimmyy,
NOVA has a very nice campus and interdisciplinary school system, and I am sure that you will enjoy the sunny Florida weather instead of philly 😀
