Hello SDNERS,
I am in need of your help once again. I am planning to apply to a few schools, but I could not find an application that is needed to accompany the check for the processing fee. Does anyone know if the schools send the application to you after receiving your grades and DAT from AADSAS? Or should I send a check with my name, social, and such included on the memo of the check.
Moreover, what is the rumor with AADSAS not sending out transcripts? Don't they send out our validated GPA scores?

Thanks again,
Richard Wong

So...you're not using the online order submission where you pay the processing fee with credit card? What application is needed to accompany the check for the processing fee? I guess I'm not understanding your question correctly....

I've never heard of any schools sending us applications after they received our grades and DAt scores from AADSAS. Also, it is true that AADSAS is not sending out transcripts like they did in the past year. They are just sending out the calculated GPAs.

AAh. Thanks bro. As for my question, I was wondering if there is a processing fee for each school. I know AADSAS has a processing fee, but I also read on SDN that each school applied requires a fee to be paid in order to process your application.

Thanks for answering,
Rich

Wow, for a guy with high DAT scores, you really have no idea how this admissions stuff works 😀

You pay one processing fee to AADSAS upon submission of your application. Almost all dental schools have what is called a secondary fee which you pay directly to them. Some schools will want you to send them the secondary fee as soon as you submit your AADSAS application while others only want you to send it after they contact you - sadly most schools are the former and not the latter and in this case those schools that want it upfront will not examine your application until that fee has been paid. If you have a question about secondary fees then look them up on your schools' websites as they should have this information posted. If not, call the admissions office directly to get an answer.

Thank you for the prompt and sincere answer. A quality I admire among my SNDers. You are a good man. You will become a great dentist Sprgrover.

Thanks again,
Rich

It took you just as much effort to make a snarky comment as it would have to answer his question. That says a lot about your character there audio 🙁

Hahah, yeah, it says that I can have a laugh. What does it say about your character to respond like this...that you're an uptight virgin 😉

wait, i only paid a secondary fee for tufts so far b/c i got an email asking for it. Now, do I have to send the secondary fee for all the other schools i applied to, even though they haven't contacted me about it yet?? 😱

If you look on your profile for AADSAS there are drop down menus that have different links...one of these links is called "supplemental information" it will tell you about each school and what they require - some want the money upfront, and some will look at your application first, and then, of course, require more money. Does this help at all? To my knowledge a secondary fee and a processing fee are analogous. If you haven't checked online yet, give it a whirl since many schools won't even give your application a first glance without some money (and what's worse: many also won't tell you that they need a fee, they just assume you know). Hope this helps. 🙂

wow i didn't know that. thanks a bunch! now, my app was mailed aug 18 and i haven't yet paid to all the schools that want the fee at the same time you submit to AADSAS. how late am i as far as paying for those processing fees? also, i don't think i'll be able to pay to each school until next month due to financial reasons....so does that decrease my chances alot?

Chill out and don't worry. Pay when you can. If you're a good applicant who loves dentistry, you'll get in, a couple weeks won't make a difference.
