For the fall semester, I can only take two of the following: physics2, cell bio, physio. I'll also be prepping for a January mcat. Which two would you say are the most important? I feel like it should be physics and physio, but I want to see what you guys (especially pple who've taken the exam recently) think.

Thanks!

Physio really helped me understand fundamental concepts in better detail and less memorization...

I would agree with physics II as well, but I'd make an argument for cell bio tho.

Mhmm, why cell bio? Is it because I can self study the physio I'll need or because cell bio is just a bigger part of the exam than physio?

Cell Bio and Physio in my opinion. Physics is not a prominent topic on the MCAT anymore. I took both physio and cell bio, and I believe cell bio helped my greatly on the BIO section. Just my two cents though.

Which of the three are you most comfortably studying on your own? I took all three before my MCAT and all were helpful.

If you have a strong biochemistry background, cell bio might be the one to save for later. That said, info from cell bio is pretty high yield on the MCAT.

Physics II will introduce a lot of concepts that might be hard to learn independently (at least for me). Despite the fact that physics is lower yield on the new MCAT compared to old, I still saw plenty of it on my real exam. Usually required solid conceptual knowledge rather than plug/chug type questions.

Physiology will give you some good intuition regarding many of the bio passages (and even physics, since they intentionally sew a lot of bio/physics together -- think hearts pumping, ion movement across cell membranes, blood pressure, etc). That said, if your university has a strong intro biology series and physiology can hold your attention better than physics, this might be the one to study independently

Physiology helped me understand the mechanisms involved as opposed to just regurgitating phone book, fact knowledge.

Physics 2 comprised 80% of my PS section on my MCAT and for me, having taken that class was vital.

Cell bio to me is an extension of biochem but was also helpful having taken it before the MCAT. Despite this, I feel as though biochem was more present within the B/B section on my MCAT.

TL;DR: Physiology & Physics 2
