Hello everyone,

I need help in deciding school list for medical school. I consider myself as underrepresented minorities and I come from low SES family. My stat: GPA 3.9 and MCAT (1st time: 499 with 127/121/126/125; 2nd time 511 with 130/124/130/127). I did 2 years of undergrad research and I am currently working in research lab. I shadow 50 hours. I volunteer in clinic that serves underserved population and in a local hospital.
Except state school, I do not know other places to apply. I have MSAR but it doesn't help much. I want to apply for schools that give good scholarship/aid. To my knowledge, those schools look for high MCAT score which I don't have. However, my friend encourages me to apply anyway if my score is at least at the 10th percentile in MSAR.
My current list of schools:
Mayo
NYU
Case Western
UCLA
Emory
Mt. Sinai
Duke
Baylor
Ohio State
Michigan
Johns Hopkin
Pittsburgh
Cornell
U Iowa
(School I consider but may not apply WashU, Stanford, Havard, Northwestern)
I also look at each school mission to decide. However, I would love to hear if anyone has other input into this. I greatly appreciate!

Thank you for your prompt response.
My state is Colorado. I am Chinese and Vietnamese. I am immigrant and also first generation student.

Most of the schools on your list are unrealistic with your MCAT scores. I suggest these schools with your stats:
Colorado
Mayo-Arizona
Vermont
Quinnipiac
New York Medical College
Hofstra
Seton Hall
Einstein
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
George Washington
Georgetown
Eastern Virginia
Oakland Beaumont
Western Michigan
Medical College Wisconsin
Rosalind Franklin
Loyola
St. Louis
Creighton
Tulane
NOVA MD
California University
any new schools that may open for 2019 (Kaiser, Roseman)

You're not URM. Here is a more realistic list:
Hofstra
Rochester
Dartmouth
U VM
Miami
Tufts
George Washington
Georgetown
SLU
Albany
Rochester
Rush
Rosy Franklin
NYMC
MCW
VCU
EVMS
Wake Forest
Netter
Jefferson
Temple
Drexel
Creighton
Tulane
Loyola
Uniformed Services University/Hebert (just be aware of the military service commitment)
Oakland-B
Any DO program. I can't recommend Touro-NY, Nova, LUCOM, for different reasons. MSUCOM? Read up on Larry Nasser and you decide.
Nova MD
U CO

Thank you for all of your response. I will look into these schools. I am not that familiar with all schools yet so these lists are super helpful in guiding me. Thanks again!
