I am applying for the 2019 school year. I have picked some schools, but need help deciding on my whole list. I am not sure what "safety" schools to apply to. The list of schools is below, but I am open to other suggestions. Any and all help is appreciated!

Year in school: Graduated May 2017 from ECU (Honors BS in Biology with a concentration in Molecular and Cell Bio), Currently doing an NIH Postbac

Schools to which you are applying:

Definitely Applying to - ECU, Duke, Wake, UNC, Virginia Tech, George Washington, Penn State, Temple

Considering/need help deciding- U of Colorado, Rosalind Franklin (Chicago), William Beuamont (Oakland), FIU, Frank Netter, Emory, Georgetown, Sidney Kimmel, SUNY Downstate, Loyola Chicago, U of Maryland, NYMC, U of South Carolina, Tufts, VCU, Stonybrook, Michigan State, Rush, Cooper

Of the schools you are considering it would be worth applying to Rosalind Franklin, William Beaumont, Frank Netter, Georgetown, Sidney Kimmel,
Loyola, NYMC, Tufts, VCU. The other schools are mainly state public schools that favor their own residents. Also consider these schools:
Drexel
Seton Hall
NOVA MD
Western Michigan
Medical College Wisconsin
Tulane
St. Louis
Creighton

Where did you apply before? Was it this cycle(2018)? Any interviews last time? Results of interviews-waitlist or rejection? What have you done tomsignificantly improve your application? Just a FYI- there really is no such thing as a safety-as you unfortunately know.

I applied 2 years ago for the 2017 school year and then took some gap time to improve my application (more shadowing/clinical work/research). I had 3 interviews and was waitlisted at all 3 schools until the start of classes. This time around I have done a lot more research (full time job). I have gained shadowing (didn't have any last application). I also did nore clinical colunteering wirh hospice. I also applied to a lot of top schools last cycle (John hopkins, Pitt, Perelman...), this cycle I am looking to fix that. Last time I applied to all in state but ECU (my Alma mater) and then a bunch of top schools which was a mistake.

Pitt (maybe)
U Toledo
Dartmouth
U VM
Miami
Tufts
George Washington
Georgetown
SLU
Albany
Rush
Rosy Franklin
NYMC
MCW
VCU
EVMS
Wake Forest
Netter

Creighton
Tulane
Loyola
Uniformed Services University/Hebert (just be aware of the military service commitment)
Oakland-B

Any DO program. I can't recommend Touro-NY, Nova, LUCOM, for different reasons. MSUCOM? Read up on Larry Nasser and you decide.

Thank you for your reply! If I may ask, why do you say maybe for the first few schools?
