Hi everyone, I recently got my MCAT scores and ended up scoring the equivalent of a 43 (525) on the test!!! However, I have previously taken the old test a year back, with a score of 30. I am not entirely sure of how to proceed with my application due to the unbalanced scores.

The rest of my application (GPA, ECs, research, volunteering, clinical) is more on par with the higher score applicants. >5 publications (two first author), >6 conference oral/poster presentations, >200 hours shadowing, >4 yrs volunteering, >3 years of president equivalent leadership position at club, created health non-profit -- will get extremely strong recs from PI and clinical experience coordinators who have all known me well for >3 years.

I am really unsure of how to create my school list especially because of the unbalanced score even though I have very good personal growth to show between the retakes, and I feel that the process has made me a stronger person/student.

Any advice on application and school's list would be much appreciated!

The old score is literally the only negative thing on your otherwise rockstar app (assuming high GPA). I think in this situation as long as you can describe how you improved from the first to the second attempt (you might get asked in an interview), you should be golden. The adcoms should have a better sense of this kind of situation though. Hopefully they will opine.

Congrats on the great score!

Are you freaking kidding me? No one is gonna give a damn about that 30. With stats and ECs like those, apply to any school your heart desires. The only way you don't get an acceptance is if you're a criminal or you literally **** your pants during the interview (I mean like actual feces). Assuming both of those will not apply to you, then let me be the first person to congratulate you on becoming a doctor.

Concur 100% Aim high. Start list with Harvard, Wash U and Stanford.
