Hi, I am living in California right now, but I will transfer to pharmacy school in Virginia this fall semester. Can someone help me to find a company to transport my car across the country? Thank you so much.

Are you able to drive your car across the country? That's what I am doing. I will be towing a small U-haul trailor with some of my stuff. The trailor that I am getting is only $112 plus taxes for 6 days. Maybe this can be an option for you.

Good luck!

Aaaah - I finally got on your thread!

We sent our daughter's car from SJ to NC last year. We searched eopinions for references & finally decided on a company. Its expensive - about $1500 - but, she didn't have the option of driving the car out there.

The thing to remember....the car goes lots and lots of places. Her's was picked up about 2 miles from us (door - to - door is more expensive) & was dropped off at a lot. Between CA & NC...it went to AZ, then to WA, then to IL, then to NY then to NC (where it was dropped off) & the truck finally dropped its last car in FL or somewhere down there.

PM me if you want more details. You need to allow time...time..time! The car left here June 30 & was dropped off July 17, I think. They stored it until she was able to get it. You can't send it with much gas in it & they don't insure it for contents, so you have to leave it empty, for the most part.

In our experience, it wasn't driven (except for the few tenths of a mile or two to put it on and off a truck & drive it into & out of a storage lot. There was no apparent trash on the inside & it was washed when she picked it up. No damage to the exterior.

Let me know if you want more info.

I used Specialty Mobile to transport my car from NJ to CA. They charged me 1195.00 and came right to my door to pick it up. It will take about 3 weekks for it to arrive to CA and they said they would drop it off in the parking lot of the hotel I'm staying at. I thought it was a good price and so far everyone at the office has been polite and helpful. Good luck with your move!

wow, thank you very much for your help. So far, I know of two moving companies. One charges 1500 and the other charges 1200. I think I will shop around more. I don't think I can drive across the nation. My car is old though. Well, thank you guys.

if you want to save money, it's better for you to just drive it over there, the driving is not that bad......but if money is not the issue, ship it.........

I would also suggest just driving because you will be saving so much money, and you won't have to wait weeks to get your car back. However, since your car is old you might risk having to pay a big repair bill if it breaks down....hmmm, decisions, decisions.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck!

🙂
