Sorry to post another "what are my chances for getting in?" thread, but i value everyone's oppinion--here are my stats in a nutshell:

Minor: Biomedical Physics

GPA: 3.65
BCPM GPA: 3.51

MCAT:
April 2003: Tot 25 08PS 09VR 08BS
Aug. 2004: Tot 29 06PS 13VR 10BS

Volunteer work with Make-a-wish and various other organizations
The usual clubs (premed amsa, etc)

Shadowed Dr (who's also writing one of my letters of rec)

I'm not shooting for Harvard or anything, but do want to stay in the states! What are my chances? Thanks in advance to all those who reply

Cast a wide net. That PS hurts, but it's still worth it to apply.

I bet some DO schools would drool over you, FYI.

Just an additional note--my top choice is a state school. It fits my needs perfectly--the avg matriculant at the school has a 3.6 and 29-30 mcat....that's pretty much the range i'm shooting for here...also, I'm already taking a year off right now to travel and volunteer, and I def am starting med school in the fall (even if its in the islands)...so doing a post-bac or masters isn't an option I wanna consider...thanks again in advance to all who respond

What do you learn in biomedical physics?? I was expecting a higher physics mark from someone with a minor in biomedical physics, but maybe you study fairly different topics.

Biomedical physics is pretty much what it sounds like--looking at how physics is applied to biology/medicine...e.g. blood flow rate, etc....the weird thing is that in all my physics, biomed physics, and g chem classes/labs, I got all A+ except for one B and one B+...so yeah, the 6 in PS is puzzling....I personally don't get it...but I'm hoping my grades and the previous 8 will balance it out....i can tell adcoms that the material on this particular mcat just wasn't my strong suit? what do you think?

Would you consider DO schools? You'll be fine there. I don't know where your home state is, but there are state DO schools too.

Thanks...but, I'd rather do the islands than DO schools...I'm strictly asking my question with regard to allopathic schools

i think you have a decent shot at md schools. only x-factor is that 6...not sure how adcoms will view that. good luck!
