Hi Yall I am in a really big dilemma. I have my CTE for the school I have an A with coming up early this week. I believe I am next on the WL for a school that is my top choice (from what is communicated with me). I have communicated with the WL school regarding my situation and how I would go there if accepted and sent in a LOI and update letter. The WL school is still accepting ppl off the WL from what was communicated with me. They are set to send out As for the next few weeks (again, confirmed and detailed by ADCOM of WL school). I have seen and heard of applicants in a similar position to me. I have seen them advised of keeping their WL position by asking the WL school if that is okay with them and still CTE at another school. At the same time, I am aware of the 3-week CTE rule from orientation. The school I have an A at with the CTE this week, their orientation is over 8 weeks from the start of orientation. I believe that is unfair as I do want to hear back from the WL school. What should I do to ensure I can keep my A, ensure I have integrity with this, and try my all best for getting into the WL school. I appreciate all advice and help.

Whatever your current school has set as the CTE deadline is what you must go by.
Not some “I heard that you can wait until 3 weeks before orientation “ thing that is not a real rule.
Don’t get burned by delaying beyond your CTE deadline

Just call the WL school and say "Hey guys, I really want to come to your school, but I have to confirm with my only acceptance by DATE." If y'all are planning on letting me off the waitlist, could you please let me know before then?

Like above said, don't miss out on your only acceptance on the off chance the wait list accepts you. But I don't think there's anything wrong with asking them this fair question.

Thank you for your help! See, I have called them and spoke with them, but they kept giving me vague responses like I'll hear back within a few weeks, but I kept trying to see if I can hear back before the CTE but they kept saying few weeks. I really want to go to the school that I am WL, but I am not willing to risk my A. I'll try to get into contact with them again, but im really frustrated by this process.
You will often have to make decisions based on incomplete information as a physician. You will make the best decision possible with what you know. It doesn’t sound like you actually have “ a few more weeks” to make this decision
