Hello-

I will be taking DAT for the first time in June. Would someone w/experience please give me some helpful tips/strategies on how to take the DAT?

Do the testing centers give an UNlimited number of scratch papers?

I forgot, but are wrong answers marked against our score?

I would greatly appreciate any/all advices. Thank You! :scared:

- Wrong answers are not marked against you...

-yes u are given unlimited scratch paper...

my suggestion is that you really practice the PAT. the PAT on the real thing is much harder than anything i've seen. the sciences were fairly straightforward although it covered lots of ground. thus, don't study too much details, but make sure you check off every topic on their list to study for. 👍

u get an unlimited amount of scratch paper but you only get two sheets at a time. when you've used it up, you have to raise your hand and they'll swap it w/ 2 new ones. so it'd be helpful to learn to conserve space when writing on scratch, so you don't spend half your time w/ your arm in the air.

i recommend bringing a light snack, so when you get a break you can refuel. i didn't have a snack when i took it and my brain was crashing by the qr section. also, try not to study the day before the exam to make sure you'll be able to sleep. trust me, even if you're normally a really relaxed person, the night before can be pretty stressful!
