So after two long years (the interview trail) I am once again crawling back to SDN for some advice. Alrighty, so I have 5 days left of DIT and took one of the UWorld practice tests and got a '630/245' (Ok, I'm not trying to be self-serving, but that number is important to my decision, plus I figure most people here dwarf those figures, anyway). My current date is June 20th and our 3rd year starts June 27th. I'll list my questions out so hopefully they can be easy to answer and can possibly help someone else out...

1) How predictive is the UWorld practice test score (Also on the database I am 42% done with a 66% overall, doing blocks of 46 all selected)?

2) How many NBME exams should I take and which form #'s?

3) My target score is a 240 (Wanna do med, peds, or med/peds in the Midwest/ Mid-Atlantic), what numbers should I be shooting for on UWorld and NBME to attain that score?

4) Under what circumstances should I move my test up, or should I move my test up at all? (I've never been a vacation guy b/c of ball, but I don't wanna go right into surgery gassed from Step 1)

Anything any of you guys can do to help is greatly greatly greatly appreciated.

THANKS!

1) Usually overestimates by 10 points or so depending on when you take it.

2) How many you want to take is up to you, but it seems like the consistently best ones are 6, 7, 11, and 12. 6 and 12 are much harder however.

3) There's no real good answer for this. I've seen very random UW score correlations before.

4) If you have a set date in mind don't bother moving your test up. Work with that date in mind.

Great advice, thanks. I was wondering some of the same thing myself.
