hey there SDNers, I'm moving to philly during the month of August, a couple of weeks before school starts. I finally found an apt for next year and I was told that I need to call and connect the gas, electricity etc.. before I move in. I have a couple of questions about the internet connection and cables. The big one is, should I even get cables? I mean, is there really time to watch tv? I am not a big tv fan, I probably get to watch it an hour a week, seriously. However, I love the internet, and I have to get a high speed internet connection. Is it worth getting internet without getting cables? (I know comcast has a package deal or something like that when you get both). ALso, what kind of hookup do you have and are you pleased with it? This is the only thing that bothers me right now, I know it's kinda stupid but I'm not used to dial up and I can go crazy if the page doesn't load in less than a second 😀 , also, is it worth getting a phone line, or should I just increase my day time minutes for $20 more. Any thought would be appreciated, as well as other tips to make the move go smooth 😱 holla back

Go with the comcast cable/internet combo and keep your cellphone. I wouldnt get a landline. Cell phones get decent reception, so no need for two phones. But I think you would miss cable.....its one of those things you don't know you miss it until its gone.

Either way, you iwll need to have EITHER cable or a phone line to get broadband. Just take advantage of the promotional offers, and call back periodically when they expire.....usually they will extend them. You learn a lot of "tricks" to save money when you are a poor student 😉
