The bio section on my exam was like nothing i have ever seen, it seemed like it was a foreign language.
I was scoring 19-20's on topscore.
The PAT on the actual test seemed easy until i got my score back...

What should i do?

Hey,
Your score isn't bad. Getting an 18/18/16 is roughly around the nation's average. Don't let some of these high scores on SDN make your feel bad. How is your GPA? Any research or extracurricular activites that stand out? That should balance out your low sections. If you are applying to schools that have high stat averages you may want to consider retaking the DAT. Check the internet for last year's stats on the incoming classes for the schools you are appying to. Numbers aren't everything if you have other things on your application that make you shine. 🙂

It depends.....on what schools you want to get into and what your GPA is. If I had a 3.3 GPA or higher, and didn't care what schools I went to, then I would consider not retaking it. But, if my GPA was lower, then I think I would retake it to be safe.

Personally, I would retake it anyways to try and get above 20. I always want to feel sure about myself. Those scores, in my opinion, could go either way.

wow thats a toughy.

i really think that your gpa is good. i think that you will have a shot st some in state schools. i have seen people with similar stats get in but its really hard to say bud. i'd retake it and make sure i get 18 all the way if i were you.

Apply early, my friend, and to several schools. Doing so will increase the chance that you'll be chosen somewhere. I would hold off on retaking the DAT until you hear from a few schools.

if you feel you could of do better, i would retake it. but if you feel you studied your heart out and that is the result of it, then i would not retake unless it is neccassary. your scores are right around the nation's average, your science GPA is decent. like everyone said, apply early, and apply to a lot of the private schools with low averages. if everthing else is good on you apps, i think you have a good shot of being accepted assuming you don't care where you go.

I thought the nation avg was a 17, has it changed in one year????/

yes, 17 is the last known national average, but the average DAT scores of most schools is higher than 17.

Last I heard and this could have changed:

All people that took the DAT: 16aa

Admitted to dental school: 18aa

I forget the source...i think it was an ADA guide book or something

if i were you i would retake it to be in the safe side.
your stats are near the average, but there is a lot of room for improvement in some sections of your DAT.

i think the national average does not really apply to all. Some states like Cali the average is like 19.5 at least. Some other states are like 17 DAT and ridiculus gpa like 3.8 cause only accepts in states and to me it seems like those states schools love to give As to everyone during undergrad.
