Info:
First of all, I am a Canadian citizen!!!

Amherst College 2008 Grad
c/sGPA 3.4, Neuroscience major
MCAT 32R (10V, 11PS, 11B)

Research: Summer of 2007 after my sophomore year, biology thesis my senior year, currently working in a cancer lab in Boston.
Volunteering: Tutor and hospital volunteer in college, hospital volunteer after college, volunteered for a autism behavioral services group. Shadowed some doctors in college.

I think my credentials are average to slightly above average, but I am definitely worried about getting into a decent medical school because I am a Canadian citizen. I am amazed at the ridiculously low number of international applicants accepted at most schools. However, I still feel like I have a leg up on most international applicants since I went to an American high school and college.

Here is my tentative school list:

All my reach schools are Canadian friendly, but let me know if I really have no chance!

Reach:
Yale
Emory
Harvard (my boss is a Harvard professor... will it make any difference?)
Tufts
Dartmouth

Reasonable:
George Washington
Georgetown
Rosalind Franklin
University of Kentucky
Tulane
Boston University
Albany Medical College
SUNY Upstate
Albert Einstein
Jefferson
Penn State
Vermont

Canadian schools: most of the Ontario schools + McGill

Considering:
Creighton
Florida International University (accepts Canadians, but lack of admissions data)
Mount Sinai
NYU
Case Western
Vanderbilt
Eastern Virgina
University of Virginia (Canadian friend of mine got in there, although she did get a 35)

So my plan is basically to apply to as many as I can and hope that I can make the cut at one school. I feel that I have a lack of safeties, any suggestions of safeties which are Canadian friendly?

Thanks =)

Considering that median stats for those accepted to US med schools are 3.65 and 31, and that international students are held to a higher standard than the average for each school, I'd say that you'll be lucky to make the cut somewhere. To review the experience of other internationals, do a search in this forum, typing in "international" and you can get more information on school lists and slectivity issues.
