So...I am on my 7th test in CDP and I am averaging 17 🙁(
I am not planning to take the DAT until August so I still have time to get better...BUT I am not sure how..I am improving but veeeeeeeery slowly and also I always run out of time when I get to pattern folding. I have about 6-7 minutes left then and it is clearly not enough to finish that section of PAT.

I got very good with the line of symmetry method for hole punching but I still draw a grid almsot every time for every question which obviously takes time away from me that I can use in pattern/cube..

Advice?

For hole punching, draw all of your grids before you begin a CDP test. On the real DAT I was able to draw all the grids during the tutorial so you didn't have to waste time. I always ran out of time too and averaged a 20 on all the CDPs and got a 21 on the real thing. If I find myself stuck on a question, ill just mark it and move on.

What section are you spending most of your time on?

drawing grids beforehand is a good idea! I never thought about that (I guess I thought that the time is ticking even during the tutorial 😕) In any case that's good news 🙂

I think I spend the most time on TFE. Couple that with wasting time to draw the grids= no time for pattern folding...

The time is ticking on tutorial, but they give you 15 minutes allotted for it. Definitely use that time to make hole punch grids and cube counting charts.

In case you haven't taken a full practice test, the tutorial they are talking about comes before the science section. So when you sit down to take your test and the the tutorial begins, draw out your grids then. There is no tutorial between science and pat.

alright that's good to know!

also, does topscore have pat practice? or only achiever? which one would you suggest? i definitely will need more PAT practice after im done with CDP. Do you suggest going over CDP again? (as in doing the tests again)?

Hi, for the Top Front End View, did the line counting method works on the DAT? As in about half of the questions it would work for? Thanks! I am not very good at Top Front End, and folding. Although I am trying to hit the 20+ mark.

i dont know about the actual DAT as I have not taken it yet..but it seems to help in many questions in CDP..did you notice that? I would also like to know about the real DAT .

Just keep practicing, I spent 60 min on the very first practice test and got a 14 ): I was very frustrated like you, but I did all the 10 tests, 3 times and got really good at it. However beware that the real DAT is actually harder than crack PAT, I averaged around 23 on the practice tests and got 20 on the real thing.

15 min tutorial is before SNS correct? If so then wouldnt I need the paper for calculations in GC/drawing out reaxns in Ochem?

Line counting isn't going to work on the real DAT for most of the questions. You have to visualize the object in 3D. It may help eliminate some wrong answer choices though!

For all of the PAT section, just focus on one specific area of the question, a unique feature. Never try to visualize the entire thing at once. Just pick a defining feature, then compare it to the answer choices. You'll likely eliminate an answer choice. Rinse and repeat until you're left with the correct answer.
