Hi guys, first off I want to say that I know I can get some help by using the search function but I want some help that is specific for my case. I tried getting help in the premed forums and didn't get any love. I'm going to copy what I wrote there and hopefully can get some help here. Thanks in advance.

I had a bad undergrad career and my gpa suffers because of it. I was unmotivated at the time and now I want to do medicine. I want to get into a MD program but my grades aren't good enough to get me in (3.1) . I am retaking my MCAT so I don't know what I'll get yet but I guess that is not the main concern of this post. I am trying to come up with backup plans. I will try to apply to DO schools and my state MD program this cycle. I am truly not too concerned about getting the MD or DO, but the reason that I am a little concerned is the merger of the residency in 2015. Some people say it will be harder for DOs to get into residency. My plan right now is to retake some classes during the summer and next year so that it will make my grades more competitive for DO programs. At the same time I will try to look for post bacc programs with linkage if possible (or the best programs that can help students get into MD, and preferably one year programs). Can you guys help suggest the best post bacc programs out there that is suitable for low gpa? Also if you guys have any advice regarding what I should be doing in order to be competitive for med schools, feel free to do so and I will glad to hear them. Thanks.

The reason you didn't get much attention is because your situation is not unique in the slightest. We see topics created by people who clearly didn't read the stickies every other day. Invest a few hours and read all of the stickies. You can start here:

Hey guys, I found this forum by accident. I believe this forum is not on the tabs and I had to do a search every time to get here. But I just want to comment so I can access it later and I want to tell you guys that it was kind of my fault. I told OP to post here so that he can get some help and I'm pretty sure he didn't know a forum exist just for post bacc ( I didn't either 🙂 ). I guess what OP told me in the PM is that he is not sure which programs will take him or he has a greater chance of getting in. Also the programs that will take him, is there one where he has a great chance of getting into med school? I guess robflanker could say the same thing where OP should do the homework first and then ask question but I just wanted to add some details for later.

Haha, well most of the time I click on forums that is on top of the page and go straight to premeds forum. Going that route there is no choice for interdisciplinary forums.

I'm not surprised. Look harder. Don't ask the same questions as the OP.
