hi guys,
I am taking pcat in OCT2005. I finished Bio 1 and 2 in summer and i will be taking anatomy 1 in fall with organic 1. so my question is what chapter are covered in anatomy 1. i will not be able to take anatomy 2 before the pcat exams. so i want to study that first because anatomy 1 will be fresh in my head. I am cool with chem. Also very confused about trig and geometry on the pcat exam. How hard are those type of questions if possible give an example. Actually i exempted the trig final but its been two years now.
Please explain in detail about anatomy and physiology chapters. and any tips are aprreciated. thanks keep it up.

I don't know how it is at your school. At mine, we covered skeletal, muscular, CNS/PNS, and sensual A&P in the first semester. We did endocrine, cardiovascular, pulmonary, digestive, urinary and reproductive in the second semester.

The first semester was mostly memorization and the second required more conceptual knowledge of physiological processes - along with memorization. I'd say the questions on the PCAT were evenly split between the two semesters. Physiology was most important - there are no matching questions on the PCAT (you know, find the descending tubule in this picture, which organ/gland contains a zona glomerulosa). In short, you'll need to know how it works, along with where it is.

I don't remember it being that difficult (certainly not as difficult as my prof's exams), but I had just finished 2 semesters of A&P. Your mileage may vary.

Good luck,
Troy

The anat/physo portion of the Kaplan guide is more than enough for you. Most of the things they asked on the PCAT seemed more general bio based than anything else, nothing about bones or neurotransmitters or whatnot.

If you need more info, or this may help you for class anyway, Cliffs has a nice Anatomy and Phsyiology study guide. I got mine at Walmart of all places.

thanks so much. i have kaplan and barrron's book. should i buy the cliffs notes for anatomy/phisiology? I will not just read but understand fully each and every concept in kaplan. Is that enough or i need to look at my textbook for additional info.
