Hello Forum-goers, just dropping in to share a plan that I have been trying come up with for the Step I. I am sure many veterans probably went through this phase and it was a lot of stress to deal with. Currently I am very anxious, and it's something I want to nail right the first time.
I am still currently in school until May 12th, and plan to take the Kaplan Prep course from Late may to Very early July. I then plan to sit the boards around Mid July.
As such such, time is fast approaching, I am trying to get myself into board studying mode. Below I have a plan that I typed out for myself. It's basically a culmination of Taus Method, and various other guides that I have read in regards to how they succeeded in pulling off a good score.
1. From now until Mid May:
Run through First Aid during a first repetition via DIT. Add any relevant notes as well at this point. I might do a few questions here or there. Since I have coursework, I probably work through DIT much more slowly. Additionally to prepare for this plan, I already have hole-punched my First Aid and had the binding removed. It's sitting in a neat folder 😀
Once my first repetition is done, I will work through First Aid again, but this time I plan to do more of questions (going to purchase a USMLE world subscription with this).
So by May, my goal will be that I'll have a fully completed First Aid, fully annotated, and I already have done a prep course with it. With that, I have also run through the notes I have annotated as well as running through all the USMLE world problems with the relevant sections.
Mid May to Early July:
Note: I also have some of the Kaplan coursebooks, which I have been using for the past year or two, and I have been studying out of them for my courses as well, so I am very much acquainted with the material (plus I love their teaching style).
After I finish from school, I will have a week off, which I will prepare any low yield topics (I imagine I am going to be burned from finals), so BRS Behavioral Science or High Yield Behavioral science as well as picking up a book for Anatomy.
Currently I am going to sign up soon for the liveprep program offered by Kaplan. Do that for 6 weeks. Work through their textbooks (50% of it which I have already done on my own at this point through my courses) and their question bank.
Last 2 weeks
Rapid Review through First Aid as well as focus heavily on USMLE world and Kaplan Q-Bank. Note this would be my second repetition through USMLE world, however it would be after 2 months. Again, I have always felt questions are important, so the bulk of my time is going into these databases.
Anyways, I hope I can get some input. It's something I am really stressing over about. This is a plan I have in mind. I think I could use some advice for the last two weeks on what else I could do.
Please help
