I am currently attending Kennesaw State University. I have a 3.8 GPA and hopefully by the time I am ready to transfer (end of Sophomore spring semester) it will be slightly higher. I want to transfer to School of Arts & Sciences - University of Pennsylvania for their bio-dental program. I have done some research and came to find out that they will wipe my current GPA once I transfer. Most of my prerequisite science courses for dental school will be finished by that time. I know that my grades will remain on my transcript and records. My question is will my GPA from the courses taken prior to transferring be taken into account when applying to dental school or will they only look at my GPA at my most current university?

Thanks in advance,
Steve

edit: Also, will transferring hurt my chances of getting into dental school?

bump for helpful advice please

You definitely have to submit your grades from every institution you've attended to AADSAS. So yeah dental schools will see. Transferring from one school to another will only be negative if you have a much lower GPA in the second school (below 3.0) but that would be bad anyways. If you went from Kennessaw to Penn and demolished courses at Penn I would expect you to do better in the application cycle when you get there. Realize that you'll have to develop new relationships with your professors for letters of recommendations and new relationships in general. Another reason it might effect you is you'll have to fit a lot more classes in at Penn if they're wiping your slate clean. You're going to need time to take the DAT.
