Hi everyone I just received my MCAT score and I am pretty disappointed. The first time I took it was last year (497). I changed my study strategies this time and was hitting around 509-512 on practice tests but I got a 501 (timing and CARS is an issue, but I was mostly calm and more confident during the test). I am a nontraditional ORM from CA with about 2-3 years of extracurricular/clinical/research experiences post-graduation. My cGPA with informal post-bacc is ~3.16 and sGPA is ~3.00 (from a 2.8 and 2.5 uGPA, respectively). I am starting an SMP program (not attached to a med school but I believe the program will support me really well) this fall and plan to apply to medical school next year (maybe doing MPH during application year). My question is what should I do? Can I still get into MD/DO schools if I do really well in my SMP without having to retake the MCAT?

Any advice is appreciated and thank you for taking the time to read.

MD schools are unlikely with your MCAT scores and GPAs. However, you could receive interviews at DO schools if you apply broadly and I suggest all these:
ACOM
ARCOM
NYIT-AR
UIWSOM
WCU-COM
ATSU-SOMA
UP-KYCOM
WVSOM
LECOM (Erie, Seton Hill and Elmira)
PCOM Georgia and South Georgia
LUCOM
BCOM
ICOM
LMU-DCOM
Noorda-COM (new school)
If you do well in your SMP (GPA 3.3 or higher) then you may be able to add more schools to this list.

I agree with Faha's list, but can't recommend WCU, BCOM, ICOM, LMU and Noorda

Thanks so much for the suggestions. If I were to take the MCAT again, what score would give me a chance at MD as well based on my stats?
