I am currently a senior and this upcoming fall semester will be my last semester. I am planning on applying to dental school this summer and here is my situation.

I am still missing the anatomy physiology requirement for most dental schools and I am in a dilema as to how I should complete this class.

option 1
take it this upcoming fall at the university. The problem is that my university only offer 1 semester of systems physiology class (a 300 level class) and the lab component section (1 credit)is currently closed. Therefore it will only be 3 credits without the lab. I am not sure if this will satisfy the anatomy with lab and physiology for d-schools which is about 7-8 credits???
There is also a separate comparative mammalian anatomy course(3 credits and 300 level class) but it doesn't have a lab and this class is also currently closed (im on the waiting list).

I was planning on taking both of these classes this fall semester but I don't know for sure I will get into them. Also i believe some schools want these classes to be in sequence?? so again I don't know if these two classes will suffice.

option 2
go back to community college in the spring of 2014 and take anatomy and physiology I and II with lab at the same time and I am pretty sure this will satisfy the d-school requirements. ( I was at cc before and transferred to university, all my prereqs were done at the CC with exception of biochem and microbio). I have to spend extra money obviously.

thanks.

All pre-reqs at CC besides bichm and micro? Any other upper-division at four-year university?

The physiology with no lab and comp. mamm. anatomy with no lab kind of leaves you in a weird situation. I have no idea, but I'd guess you will run into some school(s) that won't let that slip by without some labs. It's good you've taken some upper-division courses since the pre-reqs are CC. In your shoes, I'd probably hit the CC and take A&P. The only problem I see is trying to take those concurrently. It's not the easiest material and I wonder if they'll let you take them out of sequence.

Another option is asking some schools what they think. Email if you don't want to call.

Only 7 out of the 28 schools I am interested in have an ant/psio pre-req, of that, only 2 require one year and the rest just one semester.

That said, you can still apply to the schools that require it, and if you get in take it once you find out. That's my plan 🙂

If you want the list of schools I am talking about, I can PM you.

Good luck!
