I have already taken a statistics class once before and received a B. Im taking a differnt one, but this one is online, and it is killing me. The prof is horrible and his online notes are just brutal to read through. I got 80% somehow on the first assignment but this assignment I know Im probably going to get in the 60's. I barely have a clue on how to grasp the material he gives throughout the online notes, so would dropping this class and having a W on my transcript be a big deal? I have a great shot at getting straight A's other classes this summer term but I already have a W from freshman year but I dont want jeopardize my chances of being accepted to a d-school. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure where people get the impression that having a few W's will hurt you at all, please let me set the record straight by saying that having only a few W's, say under 5 spread out through your college career, (or say having to drop a number of classes in a semester because of health of family reasons), will not hurt you in any significant way.

I had 6 or 7 W's on my transcripts (Third time was a charm for Calc!) , and I didn't get asked about it at a single interview, and I got accepted just fine.

So again, don't stress, and a W is MUCH better than a C- or a D.

great thankyou, with that being said, how much will a D+ hurt me if i got it my freshman year?

You're prolly gonna want to retake that class. I had 2 C+'s on my transcript and a W, but I was only asked about it in 1 interview. D = bad news, even as a freshman (unless you've had straight A's since then, but it sounds like that's not the case).

Why did you retake Stats with a B? Or is this a totally different class and not a "Do-over?"

It might come up, but it really depends on the class, etc, or if you had any other situations going on that might have contributed to the poor grade.

Overall though, if you've been doing significantly better (A's and B's), it will likely just only raise an eyebrow, and not much more than that. Adcoms definitely do love improving trends in grades. Don't stress, I actually had 2 D's on my transcripts.... 🙁 but I retook the class. Maybe consider taking the class over if it was a science class?

To Lurch: Haha, we have the same avatar... I just love that picture.

Edit: I just reread the original post, and I agree with Lurch, why are you taking stats over again?

Lol. I know huh?! It's great. And hey, I HAD IT FIRST!
What makes it better to me is that when I grow my beard out I kinda look like that guy 😎.

it was my freshman year 1st semester and I was lazy as hell, didnt know I wanted to do dentistry and didnt know the marks required for it. By second semester I finished with all A's and B's with one C+, and now Im on my way to straight A's for this summer term.

*sorry the original stats I took was called Statistics in Kinesiology, this is just intro to statistics
