I have 3 letters from science professors in hand. I am waiting for a letter from my PI (will also use as my non-science letter), but she is dragging her feet. I am thinking of submitting my 3 science letters when I submit secondaries, and then adding her letter when I get it (probably early august?). Would my app be considered complete when I submit my 3 letters and my secondaries? Or would I go to the back of the line when I submit my PI letter? I hear a lot of adcoms don't start reading until late August, but do I run the risk of them reviewing my app without the PI letter?

What would you do in this situation? Thank you!

The research powerhouses will probably want to see the PI LOR, but I suspect that most schools will like: professors who taught you >>your PI.

Let's say I submit the 3 science LORs at UCSF right now, and then submit my PI letter in August. Good call or no?

If a school wants 2 science & one non-science letter, your application won't be complete until that PI (who is in psychology if I recall correctly based on a previous post) letter arrives. That said, your application might start through the pipeline and the letter will catch up before the interview. Don't be a nut or a stalker. That is the sort of behavior that will get you labeled and result in a bad letter.
