Hi all,

I've graduated from college about 3 years ago. Since then I've tried to do well on the MCAT but to no avail. My time is slipping now and I know I have to act fast because I have not really done anything besides the MCAT which hasn't really worked out for me at this point. I miss being in school and learning but failing constantly on the MCAT has made me want to think of some alternative options.

I'm going to start working full-time at a social services clinic but in the next few months I still have to make one of the following choices:

A) I am genuinely interested in pursuing an MPH and study for the MCAT.
B) Work full time and study for the MCAT
C) Go to the Caribbean

Either choice has its pros and cons but the benefit of an MPH is having more job opportunities than with just a BSc. Of course that comes at an expense of tuition and more time.

Working full time + MCAT would be exhausting and I honestly am yearning to advance my education in any capacity at this point. Working alone would not fulfill that.

Caribbean would be the fastest way to medicine but I still want to give it one more shot stateside as use it as a last resort incase the first two choices don't work out.

As for my stats:
3.7ish cGPA
3.6ish sGPA
Tons of research and extracurriculars
Low 20s on the MCAT (my only obstacle at this point)

I appreciate any feedback or inquiries regarding my situation. Thank you!

Can you define "not doing well on the MCAT"?

Not doing well meaning I haven't been getting the proper results to even meet the cut off. I've been studying and practicing for months at a time but I still can't seem to get my head around it. I've spent numerous months or even years trying to get more familiar with it but my scores are not competitive. My motivation for the MCAT is bleak at this point and I'm yearning for something different like an MPH.

Get an MPH only if you are interested in a career in Public Health. It's not a doorway into med school

Use the search function in these for a as to why going to a Carib diploma mill is a bad idea. They prey upon gullible, desperate marks like you. Unless you really want to be unemployed and deeply in debt?

I've been hesitant and resilient at this point regarding the Caribbean option but seeing how dissatisfied I am with my current situation makes me more gullible as you mentioned. I am interested in pursing in the MPH I understand its not the door way into med school but it would improve my current standing right now career wise. But ultimately I really do want to go to medical school. I just don't know how to considering how I have repeatedly failed on the MCAT.

DO school. Just break 500

IF you have test taking anxiety issues, those are fixable.

MCAT is a fair predictor of performance on Boards. We're addicted to standardized exams and so I suggest that strongly consider Plan B.

I do have some anxiety/depression issues which I believe might have hindered me. My house environment is not the most supportive and positive either which might have also played a role. Perhaps I might need to see a psychiatrist?
